- The incidence of obesity is rising year by year resulting in billions of dollars of healthcare expenditure. Over consumption of high fat and calorie dense foods and lack of physical activity are the major contributors of obesity. Treatment of obesity of our leisure time spent sitting in front of a TV or surfing the net, obesity now starts in early childhood.

- Successful treatment of obesity results in significant reduction or elimination of life threatening comorbidities such as Diabetes, hypertensions, arthritis etc.
- Diet and exercise pragmatically are the first line of treatment.
- Unfortunately in the subset of patients classified as morbidly obese results of non surgical treatment are disappointing in over 90%.Still it makes sense to try to avoid a major surgery.
