Dr. Jayakumar, known to most of his patients as Dr. Jay, is a board certified general surgeon. He completed his general surgery residency in Baltimore, Maryland and fellowship in cardio vascular surgery at the Texas Heart Institute under the guidance of Dr. Denton Cooley. He started his practice doing general and vascular surgery in 1982. Dr. J always had a keen interest in surgical treatment of obesity and since 1996 most of his practice is dedicated to obesity surgery and a large majority are laparoscopic surgery. He is living in Sugar Land with his wife and three children. His hobbies are swimming, Tennis and jogging with his pet dogs.
